The Higher Education Progression Partnership (Hepp) works across South Yorkshire and North East Derbyshire to encourage more children, young people and adults to consider higher education opportunities. It is jointly funded by Sheffield Hallam University and the University of Sheffield.

Grade Shifter is a subject specific project and focuses on one class of targeted Y11 Geography or History students per school.

HeppSY pay cover costs so that teachers can develop subject specific revision and study resources at Sheffield Hallam University. These resources will then be delivered at participating schools along with HeppSY content focusing on academic resilience and positive mindset techniques.

Grade Shifter sessions support key areas, including goal setting, motivation and attitude, strategic planning, mind mapping, stress busting, relaxation, time management, identifying strengths, building academic confidence, study methods and collaborative learning.

Activities within the project are aligned to essential skill steps and students are supported to reflect on how these skill steps support their learning. Surveys are used to identify where these skill steps supported key outcomes and to capture learners' progression around focus skill steps.
