In today's interconnected world, collaboration is key to tackling complex challenges. But with organisations spread across the globe, creating meaningful connections can be a hurdle. That's where our monthly meet for Skills Builder partners comes in. The monthly meets are designed to bridge geographical divides and spark collaboration between organisations.
Here's what makes our Monthly Meet a success:
- Diversity of voices: Attendees are from a range of different organisations, fostering a rich exchange of ideas and perspectives. From established NGOs to cutting-edge startups, everyone has a valuable contribution to make.
- Focused discussions: Each month, we tackle a specific theme relevant to the global community. From building essential skills when resources are scarce to reviewing recent research on essential skills, focused topics ensure that discussions remain focused and impactful.
- Hearing stories of impact: Each month a partner shares their journey with the Skills Builder Partnership. They discuss how they achieved their impact level, what they learned along the way, and the impact this work is having on their beneficiaries.
- Updates from the Partnership: Recent news and new opportunities are shared with the network so that partners don't miss a chance to be involved.
- Community: It's not just about talk. Our meets encourage participants to forge connections, share best practices, and explore potential partnerships.
The monthly meet in November was a special one. It was an open invitation for organisations outside of the partnership to connect and learn from each other. During the session, we heard from Marianne from Alsama Project. The Alsama Project is a non-profit organization based in Lebanon, dedicated to empowering refugee youth. They operate in refugee camps, providing essential services such as education, sports, and social enterprise opportunities. Their approach combines academic learning with essential skills development, aiming to equip young refugees with the tools they need to build a brighter future.
They shared the challenge that displaced youth have in reaching higher education. They have seen a need for a standardised exam to certify capabilities of displaced students and so have been working hard in conjunction with other organisations and higher education institutions to develop the G12++ exam. They recognised the Universal Framework as the obvious choice to design the life skills section of the exam.
“We are proud to be an impact level 2 accredited partner of the Skills Builder Partnership. The fellowship is so valuable, the clarity of the framework, the credibility and the support that has been provided by Skills Builder has been remarkable and the impact is real.”
Marianne, Alsama Project
The energy at the monthly meet was palpable. Opportunities to come together and learn from each other, regardless of where we are based, form an essential part of our international work.
