We see the essential skills framework as a simple and effective tool for preparing young people for the world of work. We have therefore embedded the framework into both our education and employment outreach work.

To provide opportunities for students to learn, apply and reflect on the essential skills which are critical to the world of work
To maintain consistency in the language used to speak about essential skills through education and into the workplace
Since 2023, 6076 young people in the area have had the opportunity to develop their essential skills to prepare them for the world of work
Local students have a better understanding of the jobs and careers available to them at the airport thanks to our schools outreach programmes
Increase in job applications from students participating in our early career activities, with five securing a place on our engineering apprenticeship scheme
The Skills Builder Excellence Standards set clear guidelines for best practice across a business or team.
Business or teams who achieve these indicators work towards achieving an Excellence Mark accreditation.
