IVE is a charity that works directly with disadvantaged young people to deliver Applied Creativity Labs, a 10-session programme that develops young people's creative thinking and employability skills as they find, develop and present new solutions to real-world problems. We introduce young people to experts who describe the problem, run creative thinking training games & challenges and then support young people to find, develop & present their new solutions/ideas/campaigns to an industry panel of expert stakeholders.
Throughout all of the stages of an Applied Creativity Lab, young people are required to listen, speak, problem-solve, be creative in their thinking, work in teams, act as a leader, aim to have the best idea and not be defeated when things need changing in response to feedback. At the end of each of the 10 sessions we stop and invite participants to reflect on and identify which skills they have used during the activities that week. The programme refers to the essential skills and their definitions specifically as outlined in the Skills Builder Universal Framework and Associates make the link weekly between the essential skills and positive outcomes.
