Careers Collective are a handpicked collective of careers consultants, coaches, mentors and trainers, hugely experienced in helping students, schools, SEN teams, businesses and organisations tackle career challenges head on. The team design and deliver fresh, engaging courses, coaching and consultancy, delivered virtually, which reflect the needs of today’s rapidly changing jobs market, making specialist careers support more accessible than ever.

Explore Construction is a career development programme that focuses on inspiring students to realise the many different roles and pathways there are into construction. The programme is written purposefully to ensure that it also provides all students insights into their own skills and personal development.  A short engaging film is used as a catalyst for many different conversations, activities and discussion. Workbooks for students are provided as are support packs for teachers and other useful resources. The material is progressive and has been written for users from Entry Level to Level 3, including a specific workbook for SEN and neurodivergent learners.

A short film, an important element, is referred to constantly in the materials. In the film, seven young career starters discuss their roles, their qualifications, skills, and futures. The Q&As include personal and reflective questions that students can consider at leisure. There are also further links for them to research. The workbooks consist of activities and prompts for discussion that are all skills-based. Students can show: the ability to listen without interrupting; to repeat and describe the content; use appropriate terms (these are introduced and defined in the film and as activities in the materials) and in logical order; be able to listen to the film and then follow instructions; they will be encouraged to recognise different emotions or preconceptions; to recognise these in others (important for teams and future leaders); the workbooks provide level-appropriate activities for students showing them how to understand and set goals and challenges for themselves. Learning how to imagine a world in constructing, finding a mentor and building networks are all creative skills.

Each set of student resources comes complete with a guidance sheet which highlights where the essential skills support the activities and which steps are covered.

The content is all open to any English or Welsh speakers.
