Delivered by In2action in collaboration with NCS, an online experience that allows young people the chance to learn essential skills related to delivering presentations or speaking in public (no matter how large the group), as well as an opportunity to practise those skills in our unique SPEAK challenge.

In2action's Make Your Mark online experience allows young people to develop their essential skills of:

  • Listening: we'll explore how to use body language and eye contact in a presentation to ensure that your audience are engaged but also to show that you are actively listening to the presenter. Young people learn the basics of this and then get to practise during the SPEAK challenge. (Step 6)
  • Speaking: we work on how to use tone of voice to engage listeners, as well as what expressions and gestures can bring to a presentation or public speaking task. We look at how to position your body and use your face to really grab the attention of listeners and then practise this in the SPEAK Challenge, as well as during our icebreaker activities. (Step 9)
  • Teamwork: During the SPEAK Challenge, groups are tasked with making a decision on what to speak about, as well as listening to the ideas of others. All participants are encouraged to present and listen to others' ideas equally, as well as identifying their contributions and the value of others' ideas during the review session.
