During the COVID-19 pandemic, only 19% of children under 16 were doing one or more hours of physical activity per day, which is the government’s daily recommended amount. It is important for young people to regularly exercise for their health and well-being. Move. Learn. Grow was developed in partnership with Sport Impact during the COVID-19 Pandemic and aimed to increase children’s levels of physical activity.
The Harlequins Foundation delivers Move. Learn. Grow in the Harlequins Heartlands (Twickenham, Kingston, Hounslow and Richmond) working with its local primary schools to get young people more active. Move. Learn. Grow offers bespoke and wide-ranging support packages including:
Move. Learn. Grow uses the allure of sports to help children develop within their core subjects and personal skills such as confidence and resilience.
The Harlequins Foundation Move. Learn. Grow programme develops all eight of the essential skills, but has a real focus on listening, speaking, problem solving and creativity.
These skills are important off the pitch too as they are transferable skills that are essential to a successful life.
