Primary Futures is an online platform providing state schools free access to an enormous range of volunteers from the world of work and a range pre-recorded resources to support career-related learning at primary age.
Schools can use Primary Futures to plan in-person activities with local volunteers or connect virtually with volunteers from all walks of life across the country, whether it’s a solar physicist joining a lesson on space, or a graphic designer talking about how they use essential skills and core subjects. Children become aware of essential skills that cut across the wide range of jobs and also practise their own Speaking, Listening and Aiming High.
Our new pre-recorded video activities are ready to use and give schools a taste of the exciting volunteers they could connect with, along with accompanying earning activities that focus on the skills, subjects and qualities needed for these jobs, prompting pupils to reflect on their own skills. For example, videos for KS1 and KS2 explore gender stereotypes by meeting role models such as a female construction worker and a male florist and ask pupils to consider overlapping job skills they discuss.
