The Taung Child Foundation (TCF) launched its mentorship programme in 2022 in response to the alarming rate of unemployment amongst young people in Taung, North West Province, South Africa (64%). The TCF Mentoring programme draws on elements of coaching to build knowledge while also allowing for personal and professional development over a structured 8-12 months programme.

The programme is designed to support the mentee’s identified personal and professional development goals. This may include the development of essential skills such as communication or leadership through the Universal Framework or more technical skills related to a specific field.  Mentors act as sounding board and professional friends and create reflective space for the Mentees. TCF’s Mentoring programme gives special attention to a good matching process and can support practical learning and development while also encouraging innovative thinking.
